3D Scanning of Objects. Training Course

About the Program

An in-depth course for those who want to master 3D scanning technology systematically and thoroughly. You will go through the entire workflow with a 3D scanner: from preparing the object and workspace, setting up and calibrating the equipment, to scanning objects of varying complexity, initial post-processing of the captured scans, and preparing models for downstream use and production. Special attention is given to the specifics of scanning shiny, dark, and large-scale objects.

The course establishes a practical foundation for work in engineering, industrial design, robotics, restoration, medicine, and other fields that utilize additive technologies and digital manufacturing.

Duration/Credits:

  • 90 hours / 3 ECTS credits

Length:

  • 1.5–2 months

Delivery Mode:

  • In-person, online, or hybrid

Final Assessment:

  • Pass/Fail grading

Target Audience:

  • Academic staff, engineering and technical professionals, and anyone seeking to master the applied aspects of 3D scanning and scan post-processing

Participants receive a certificate upon completion.

After completing the course, you will:

  • Know the functionality and software toolsets used for scanning

  • Understand the specific challenges and techniques for scanning shiny and black parts

  • Be able to configure scanner settings and scan both simple and complex objects

  • Be able to perform basic model post-processing using dedicated software tools

  • Prepare 3D models for manufacturing

  • Independently select optimal scanning modes based on the material, size, and complexity of the object
